New SuperTube gain block added

Balanced Audio Technology incorporates the 6H30 SuperTube into a completely revised first gain stage for the VK-55SE power amplifier. This is the same tube used in our reference VK-150SE monoblock tube amplifiers and provides the VK-55SE with a more transparent, extended, and involving reproduction of the musical performance.

Vacuum tube current sources substituted

The resistive current sources in the VK-55 power amplifier are replaced with vacuum tube based current sources in the VK-55SE. You'll find this same technology employed in our flagship REX preamplifier. These vacuum tube current sources provide a more soulful portrayal of musical texture and instrumental timbre. The musical performance sounds more alive while simultaneously yielding more finesse, grace and inner detail.

Power supply energy storage multiplied

We've increased the power supply energy storage of the VK-55SE to over five times that of the VK-55! Needless to say, the dynamic performance of the VK-55SE reaches a new level altogether – a dynamic performance worthy of its Special Edition status.

Higher quality parts utilized

The VK-55SE also substitutes the paper-in-oil capacitors used in our flagship products for the polypropylene capacitors employed in the VK-55. The sound becomes more natural and coherent from the substitution of these premium oil-filled capacitors.

Sensible upgrade path maintained

The VK-55SE is available as either a 55 watt per channel stereo amplifier or a 110 watt monoblock amplifier. Best of all, the VK-55 power amplifier can be fully upgraded to the VK-55SE. Start with a single stereo VK-55, then upgrade later to a stereo VK-55SE – and if you ever change speakers or simply want more power, you can further upgrade to VK-55SE monoblocks.
